ambetterhealth.com Reviews

Ambetter Meridian is worst health insurance on the face of the earth. They approve nothing, all while you suffer. They treat people horribly. Even my doctor hates them. Don't waste your time. This company is pure evil.

I would not recommend autopay

I kept my card on autopay with Ambetter. They overcharged me without my authorization by about $480 and they are telling me I have to wait 10 business days for a refund. They did this while I have other bills due and won’t even communicate with me about my refund.

How do you give negative stars?

How do you give negative stars?? This company should be ASHAMED of itself. I cancelled my insurance with this company in January of 2024 and this company changed the date of my cancellation so that my last doctors appointments of the year weren’t covered. Not to mention that the entire time I had this insurance, if that’s even what you want to call it, not one single appointment was covered by this company. I literally paid for nothing. Customer service is a JOKE. I still
Haven’t received a call back from June of last year, haven’t received the grievance information I elected to file, the website as never updated from the time I called over 100 doctors listed on their site that no longer take Ambetter. This is a legit scam. If you have time to run from this company I beg you to do so.

If I could do negative times a million…

If I could do negative times a million I would!! This is the ABSOLUTE WORST insurance I have ever encountered! I am a type 1 diabetic and recently had to get new coverage due to divorce. They have been sending me around in circles for 2 MONTHS now and I still cannot get my diabetic supplies covered! They are horrendous and will be the death of us all that rely on medication coverage to SURVIVE!! Run far and run fast to any other insurance.

And now they are spending our hard earned money on commercials to tell us how GOOD they are?! Morons!

The WORST insurance on the PLANET

The WORST insurance on the PLANET. If anyone considering to get Ambetter insurance, you’re better of without it. I made huge mistake to get this insurance for my mom. When you call, they don’t know my about their own policies and not willing to help you at all. 1 example, I hade to get skilled nursing home visits for my mom which was covered by insurance. I pulled 5 pages list of the facilities from ambetter.com which serve in Houston, 60% from the list doesn’t take the insurance and about 10% have wrong number listed. Wish I had checked reviews of ambetter insurance before getting it. It has 1.1 stars.

negative stars should be an option

negative stars should be an option. No one reliable accepts Ambetter. Doctors/physical therapy locations say “insurance fully covers your visits” then I get a bill in the mail 3 months later for $2,800?? Tried to dispute but Ambetter says I still owe, even when I was told it would be fully covered! A whole scam. Don’t waste your time

Worst insurance ever

Worst insurance ever. Wouldn’t refill my medications I’ve been on for 10 years prior and gave my doctor the run around for 8 months. Always get a call center with dogs barking and chickens in the background and just overall the worst insurance I’ve ever had. What a joke of a company.

Customer service is absolutely the…

Customer service is absolutely the worst. I have been passed around so many times in the last 7 months just trying to get my provider the explanation of payment (EOP) details so they can post my payment, along with all the other patient transactions associated with mine. So many wasted hours on the phone. Representatives are kind and want to help. But they are not trained. They dont understand how payment and recoup transactions are processed. Provider services will only talk to providers and promise reports (EOPs) and don't come through. Company policy does not allow members to speak with supervisors. Submitting grievances is pointless. After 7 months I have been escalated to "Swat Escalations", but it is just another middle person that will try to get this resolved. It's beyond ridiculous. My providers don't want to work with them anymore. And all this is just member & provider services! Don't get me started on all the other issues - like denying claims due to not having pre-approval when I have the approval letter in my hand!! Denying medications (although temporarily) after knee replacement surgery. Requiring such specific pre-approval request information without guidance or instruction that it delays procedures or hinders recovery.
If you only need preventative services, they're fine. They won't let you die in an emergency.

Would give zero stars if I could

No breathing medicine for 4 days and customer service lies to you

In 4 days I have called Ambetter 14 times literally. I use a daily prevental inhaler due to having chronic asthmatic issues. So I really need my refills. After calling 6 times I finally got a hold of a rep who told me that my prescription would be made available to me with in 1 hour. That wasn't true, called a couple of more times to be told I'd have to wait 72 hours (meanwhile I've had 3 asthma attacks in 4 days). After the 72 hour wait it was not made avaliable to me. I was told to wait one more day. Next day still nothing. Called back again (Meanwhile each of these calls, I'm on hold for about an hour). The representative says he spoke to the pharmacy and to check back with abetter in one hour. Guess what happened then, they were closed for the weekend. He lied to me just to end the call. This is what I mean when I say we have to elect people in public office that'll hold these companies to a standard. Clearly, Ambetter Insurance care NOTHING about the fact that they have a client that has been upholding his obligation and paying on time, or that he can't breathe. All they care about is their money. I'm beyond disgusted with this company and I recommend anyone in the Columbia area looking for affordable insurance to stay far away from ambetter.

My body is suffering greatly because of this. If it gets any worse I will have no choice but to go to the E.R. Spend all of that money just because this company will not do what I pay them to do.

So I've had ambetter insurance for two…

So I've had ambetter insurance for two years never used it till recently I went to a primary doctor visit. they stuck me with the whole bill o called customer service and they said that the billing department coded the visit wrong and it needed to be changed. I spoke with the doctor and the billing department and they said that ambetter is notorious for doing things like this as to not pay for visits and this has happened quite often he said I gave up and payed for the visit my self. I guess I need to look for another insurance plan.

There costumer service is a joke

There costumer service is a joke. I've paid my monthly payments every month. This month they are saying that I have to pay July's payment as well. They have suspended my account and I can get my important medication refilled. It makes no sense. Even after doing a payment audit which shows I only owe $17 for the month of June. Which isn't due until the end of June. Yes they still will not unsuspend my account unless I pay $53.66 for June and July's payment

Epitome of Everything Wrong with the U.S. Healthcare industry

1-Doctors refused to send my medical bills to Ambetter because "ambetter makes it impossible to get paid"
2-Ambetter refused to allow me to self submit bills
3-Midway through the year my Pro-rated Healthcare.gov bill was changed
4-Ambetter makes it very difficult to cancel your coverage
5-They continued to charge me monthly for almost 6 months after they finally had allowed me to cancel

Like the mob, they won't let go

Weeks ago I called Ambetter and cancelled my health insurance because I've moved to another state, but new ID cards arrived and I'm getting emails about premium payments. So today I called Customer Service, went through their LOOONG phone Q&A to talk to a human, only to be told her system is down and to call back in few hours. I asked to be transferred to someone else but gosh darn it, she couldn't do that. She suggested I try the Ambetter website. Strangely enough there's no Customer Service or method to cancel insurance on the Ambetter website. I canceled Auto Pay so Ambetter won't be getting paid by me. At this point they're committing fraud.

Horrible phone service, PCP choice issues

So a lot of my friends have needed help in getting their ambetter insurance primary care provider problem fixed. Apparently, despite being asked to choose a PCP and you picking one, ambetter will then change it to some other random doctor that you don't want (cuz you already chose one you want). Then when you go to your doctor's office (the one you want to see), you are told you did not choose them as their PCP and have to reschedule after changing your PCP. So we try to call ambetter to change the PCP back to the actual doctor my friends' want. Ambetter tells us it is changed. They try to reschedule only to find out the PCP has not changed yet. We had to do that at least 3 times. And you know how long it takes just to get somebody on the phone, right? Hours.
Otherwise, for those friends who have good Ambetter plans, they seem to like it once they get the PCP figured out.
I would give it zero stars but since getting the PCP thing figured out and my friends being happy with it otherwise, gave it 2 stars.

A completely incompetent healthcare organization.

I had about a year gap in health coverage between losing my Washington State Apple Care (Great coverage!) and joining Medicare. I signed up with Ambetter for reasons I can't remember now, and thankfully never need them for anything other than a wellness checkup with a doctor.
When I signed up their customer service rep I talked to said I could continue to see my regular doctor, only to find I couldn't.
Took a while to find another doctor to go to, as their website was extremely poor and basically unusable. When I did find a doctor my personal page on their website never showed the proper doctor once.
It always tried to tell me I should see an OBGYN a half mile away (I'm male, btw) or a doctor over 25 to 50 miles away.
When I tried to schedule a follow up appointment, it always assigned a different PA or NP, and I finally gave and cancelled the entire appointment.
Highly incompetent company.

Less than knowledgeable

I was told from the emergency room to call my insurance and see who Accepts my insurance for carpal tunnel surgery. The first person I contacted gave me a list of providers, but she wanted me to call back with a c p t code. I called back with that and the gal didn't even know what to do with that. She also asked me to spell out carpal tunnel surgery. If I have to spell that out for you, then something is definitely wrong. She said that she couldn't find anywhere in her system that they cover carpal tunnel surgery. I said that was weird because the st.Person said that all these providers do.She just needed a code to narrow it down. The ladies spoke Not good english and didn't care to understand what I needed. We need to stop hiring foreigners. And having americans do american jobs. I am so sick of trying to get good customer service. And not having the other person, on the other end, understand english or they talk too fast and with an accent, you can hardly understand.

Extremely worst insurance no one wants…

Extremely worst insurance no one wants to accept it. Since ambetter was assigned to me I had to pay $125 a month for prescriptions that used to be covered I can't afford to pay for diabetic medications and the other medications I'm on. I have called several times to see why I keep getting run around placed on hold then hung up on . I'd rather die from my health issues then keep dealing with companies like this that do t care about people

A nightmare of a company

If I could put a no star that would be my review. This company has no idea about what they are doing. Duplicate accounts with me. They should be going bankruptcy for the paper waste the send in the mail. They have been bombarding me with mail that says the exact same thing. I have wasted numerous hours on the phone with them asking to cancel my policy but apparently they refuse cause they keep billing me. The government healthcare market should have the full control of these. It seems no one has any idea of what anyone is doing. It's a nightmare. I regret finding them. This been going since January. Here we are in June and it's still not resolved.
